10 time management tips that work

Chances are good that, at some time in your life, you've taken a time-management class, read about it in books, and tried to use an electronic or paper-based day planner to organize, prioritize and schedule your day. "Why, with this knowledge and these gadgets," you may ask, "do I still feel like I can't get everything done I need to?"
The answer is simple. Everything you ever learned about managing time is a complete waste of time because it doesn't work.
Before you can even begin to manage time, you must learn what time is. A dictionary defines time as "the point or period at which things occur." Put simply, time is when stuff happens.
There are two types of time: clock time and real time. In clock time, there are 60 seconds in a minute, 60 minutes in an hour, 24 hours in a day and 365 days in a year. All time passes equally. When someone turns 50, they are exactly 50 years old, no more or no less.
In real time, all time is relative. Time flies or drags depending on what you're doing. Two hours at the department of motor vehicles can feel like 12 years. And yet our 12-year-old children seem to have grown up in only two hours.
Which time describes the world in which you really live, real time or clock time?
The reason time-management gadgets and systems don't work is that these systems are designed to manage clock time. Clock time is irrelevant. You don't live in or even have access to clock time. You live in real time, a world in which all time flies when you are having fun or drags when you are doing your taxes.
The good news is that real time is mental. It exists between your ears. You create it. Anything you create, you can manage. It's time to remove any self-sabotage or self-limitation you have around "not having enough time," or today not being "the right time" to start a business or manage your current business properly.
There are only three ways to spend time: thoughts, conversations and actions. Regardless of the type of business you own, your work will be composed of those three items.
As an entrepreneur, you may be frequently interrupted or pulled in different directions. While you cannot eliminate interruptions, you do get a say on how much time you will spend on them and how much time you will spend on the thoughts, conversations and actions that will lead you to success.
Practice the following techniques to become the master of your own time:
Tip 1: Carry a schedule and record all your thoughts, conversations and activities for a week. This will help you understand how much you can get done during the course of a day and where your precious moments are going. You'll see how much time is actually spent producing results and how much time is wasted on unproductive thoughts, conversations and actions.
Tip 2: Any activity or conversation that's important to your success should have a time assigned to it. To-do lists get longer and longer to the point where they're unworkable. Appointment books work. Schedule appointments with yourself and create time blocks for high-priority thoughts, conversations, and actions. Schedule when they will begin and end. Have the discipline to keep these appointments.
Tip 3: Plan to spend at least 50 percent of your time engaged in the thoughts, activities and conversations that produce most of your results.
Tip 4: Schedule time for interruptions. Plan time to be pulled away from what you're doing. Take, for instance, the concept of having "office hours." Isn't "office hours" another way of saying "planned interruptions?"
Tip 5: Take the first 30 minutes of every day to plan your day. Don't start your day until you complete your time plan. The most important time of your day is the time you schedule to schedule time.
Tip 6: Take five minutes before every call and task to decide what result you want to attain. This will help you know what success looks like before you start. And it will also slow time down. Take five minutes after each call and activity to determine whether your desired result was achieved. If not, what was missing? How do you put what's missing in your next call or activity?
Tip 7: Put up a "Do not disturb" sign when you absolutely have to get work done.
Tip 8: Practice not answering the phone just because it's ringing and e-mails just because they show up. Disconnect instant messaging.
Tip 9: Don't instantly give people your attention unless it's absolutely crucial in your business to offer an immediate human response. Instead, schedule a time to answer email and return phone calls.
Tip 10: Block out other distractions like Facebook and other forms of social media unless you use these tools to generate business.
Remember that it's impossible to get everything done. Also remember that odds are good that 20 percent of your thoughts, conversations and activities produce 80 percent of your results.

Many people today think that in order to be influential, you have to have a powerful position, a large amount of money or your own TV show. But the truth is influence isn't at all about a social position, a title or a degree. In God's eyes, influence is about your heart condition. When you have a heart of excellence, a heart that goes above and beyond to do what is right, people take notice, and it affects them. Most importantly, God takes notice. That's the kind of heart God can bless and promote. That's the kind of influence He will multiply.

One of my favorite stories in the Bible is about a young girl named Esther. Esther wasn't born into privilege. In fact, she was orphaned as a young girl and seemed to have little hope for significance. But her attitude of excellence and her belief that she had a purpose greater than herself is what made all the difference. She was a steward of her influence, careful about the choices she made, and God entrusted her with tremendous favor. Because of God's favor on her life, she was positioned as queen, and she ultimately used her influence to save her entire nation from annihilation!

Today, God wants to crown you with His favor just like He crowned Esther. He wants to position you in places that you never dreamed possible. But it all starts with you being a good steward of your influence and mindful of the example you are setting for others. Don't let the world around you influence your choices and standards; instead, you be the leader and set the standard. God has equipped you with power to overcome in every area of this life. He has deposited His wisdom in you, and He is ordering and directing your steps. As you approach life with a heart of excellence and focus on living your best, you are tapping into your influence. God will multiply you and use you in ways you never imagined! Believe it today because His hand of blessing is upon your life to accomplish everything He's placed in your heart.

I will look on you with favor and make you fruitful and increase your numbers, and I will keep my covenant with you (Leviticus 26:9, NIV).

When You’re Tempted to Get Discouraged

On your way to victory, there always comes a time when you're tempted to get discouraged and give up. You won't feel this way when you first start out. It always happens when you're tired or when you've been standing a long time, usually right before your breakthrough. That's when you're the most vulnerable.

The apostle Paul said in Galatians 6:9, "Don't grow weary in doing what's right for in due season you shall reap if you faint not." Two words are the key to this whole passage—faint not. In other words, if you don't give up, if you stay determined to shake off the weariness, if you put on a new attitude knowing that God is still in control and dig your heels in saying, "I've come too far to stop now," you will see the promise come to pass. Instead of complaining about how long the battle is taking, we should be saying, "This too shall pass. I know it's not permanent; it's only temporary. I'm not camping here. I'm moving forward."

When we look in scripture at the story of the children of Israel and the Promised Land, we see that they were close to their victory. In fact, they were literally right next door to their Promised Land. God already said He would give it to them. All they had to do was to go in and fight for it. But the problem is that they allowed weariness to set in. They had gone through the wilderness, overcome obstacles, and defeated all kinds of enemies. Now they were tired. Moses tried to encourage them, but their weariness had already turned into discouragement. When you're discouraged, you see the problem instead of the possibility. You talk about the way it is instead of the way it can become. They started complaining, "Moses, we can't take the Promised Land, the people are too big. We don't have a chance. We'll never defeat them." They made a permanent decision based on a temporary feeling.

If you allow yourself to become weary and lose your passion and enthusiasm, you too will be tempted to make decisions based on how you feel rather than what you know. When you feel that weariness coming on, that's when you need to start talking to yourself and say, "God, You said You have armed me with strength for every battle. You said I can do all things through Christ who infuses inner strength into me. You said I am more than a conqueror; a victor, not a victim." If you will talk to yourself the right way, you will feel that second wind begin to kick in and carry you through to victory.

Today, if you feel tired and run down, feel like you can't make it anymore, that it's too hard, recognize that talking about it will only drag you down and add fuel to the fire. Instead of talking about the way things are, start talking about the way they should be according to God's promises. When you're tempted to get discouraged, start speaking words of faith and victory out of your mouth. Declare "I am equipped. I'm empowered. I'm strong. I'm well able." Declare victory and blessing over your life and take hold of the "promised land" He has in store for you!

In Ho Chi Minh City commonly find chinese traditional push Cart selling "wan ton noodle". But the push cart no more moving around to sell the noodle. It usually locate in the shop as a stall or set up on road side to sell the noodle.
You will be surprise that the soup of wan ton noodle tasted first class. I should say that we hardly get this standard in Singapore for now a days. The above photo show this particular shop that I love most compare with other available stalls found in the city. If you happen to be in the city, go to Cach Mang Thang 8 and look for this s only 1 shop that sell chinese wan ton noodle. A big bowl cost 32,000VND ( S$2)

If you ever come to Ho Chi Minh City, please remember to visit this Seoul House retaurant located at 33, MAG Thi Buoi Q1 for a satisfactory korean cuisine. It was indeed worth the price. As you know that Korean are famous for their side dishes preparation. I got shock to have the varieties to accompany with the 2 main dish which were Sam Gae tang ( Ginseng chicken) & Barbecue Pork.

able to eat 1 bowl of Banh Canh Cua ( crab noodle soup)
Banh Canh Trang Bang ( white noodle look like Ramen famous
from Trang Bang - district in Tay Ninh) .
The soup tasted so sweet after 3 hours of cooking with7 crabs
with crab eggs. Absolutely ma ma mia!,
The crab meat tasted so sweet and amazing delicious.
This bowl of crab soup noodle makes me think of doing business
with it. I think should be able to command big fans. obviously
you may ask where to eat it and how much it cost... well! it is cook
in my place and it is cheap !

It has been 3 years since my first visited to Vietnam on 2007. Can't imagine that's so real and unbelieveable!I have learned much and live well here especially to know more people within these few years. I have found and enjoyed many foods and cafe along the business journey. Riding motorbike around the city is my biggest challenges and I am doing it daily now. Somehow,environement do influrence my thinking and believing. The lifestyle in Vietnam is so differents from Singapore. I have come to understand it better now, it is another world for me to explore further and live well. I love the monthly traveling to & flo from Singapore to Vietnam. I am enjoying my business and feel good to be in 2 countries to experience all happening arround me. Bravo!!

Ah Koon Kaya Roti from Singapore had already set up the 1st outlet in Ho Chi Minh City. It will be the biggest outlet compare with all Singapore available outlets. 3 storey building with about 9000 sqft in total area to set Ah Koon Kaya and Roti franchise to new height standard in HCMC. I have spoken to 1 of the share holder and learned that they have owned the Master Franchise in Vietnam and paid off high good will investment amount.
The over all menu are similar to Singapore but the price is higher compare with Singapore outlets. 1 cup of Singapore Kopi-o cost 22,000VND which is Sin$2. But the outlet rennovation had set a good environment for lunching and more...
Ah Koon will officially open on 16th Dec 2008 and it is located at Dist 1.

A Marvelous Trip !

Well, we have a team of 5 - William Francis, Cedric , Lawrence, Thomas and myself make a trip to KL on 18th October. It was a fun and relax trip for all of us. We met up with Our GM Mr Rahman for lunch at Japanese restuarant and he arranged a beautiful and comfortable hotel rooms for us, William Francis shared his experienced later in Synergy Maga ctr, It was a very good lessons for all of us who wanted to change our lives for better. A fruitful day end with delicious foods at crowded street. We have the unique yellow ginger chicken and special claypot rice. After filled up our stomach, we carried on with a long night Karaokae before we called it a day. On Sunday , we met up with Dr Fang at Klang with his partners at the papa coffee shop. 1st time met up with Dr Fang, I found him an interesting person to work with. I am looking forward to work with him in near future.

It is my pleasure to meet up with him in person and got to learn some wonderful dishes that he is offering in the restaurant. The coffee menu is ausome, we can taste of kinds of coffee bean with different brews daily. It is a coffee lover heaven. Beside that, the cafe also offer red wine and cocktail beverage. This restaurant or rather caffe is a place for Italian specialties, the menu is marvelous too. we can find , Panino meats , Panino fish, vegetarian panino, crostini misti and piadine & crescioni in the menu for light refreshment and of course, the menu also touch onto Burgers, Riso rice, Salads sportivo , Zuppe soups, carne meat and Home made pasta. The Pesce SEAFOOD dishes are delicious.

I remember that when i first visit Bobby cafe @ Pham Ngu Lao Dist 1 last year, I was impressed by its cafe with mini cinema concept. Now I came to know that bobby cafe had 6 outlets located at HCMC at the various district. Today I visited the one that near where I stay at Q10. I am impress with its designed and layout. It is bigger with 4th storey set up. The mini cinema located at 4th storey. The cafe also serve daily vietnamese lunch menu. I love the breakfast set here with its daily brew coffee. I have met the person in charge for this new outlet and realise that he spent about USD$110,000 to renovate this outet. So when you visit HCMC, please drop by this Q10 bobby cafe outlet.

This is a dish that serve everywhere in Ho Chi Minh. Usually not the main dish for lunch or dinner, rather a light meal in the afternoon. Banh Canh Cua is the dish that serve with crab meat and You Char Kwek, squeeze with lemon juice and chopped chilli. Simple yet special. Cost 22,000VND (Sin$2) per bowl and eat in the small shop. This dish can be found in many places. 1 of the common hawker dish in Vietnam.

Hu Tieu Nam Vang - the dish origin from Cambodia and introduce to Vietnam for many years, I have eaten few places of Hu Tieu in Ho Chi Minh and there is 1 stall caught my attention and make me re visit many times for its tasty soup. It is 1 of the good price Hu Tieu Nam Vang you can find in HCMC. 1 Bowl ony cost you 18,000VND (Sin$1.60)
Well cooked with lots of ingredients: pig liver, meat ball, pig kidney, minced meat and famous for its tasty and rich soup.
You may just want to eat 1 bowl before you can experienced what I am talking about.

I have been eating this special dish from Cat Dang Cafe since few months ago. It is a dish originated from the North of Vietnam. You will find Crab meat, fish cake and Ham served with noodles in the bowl. Not really use to the taste for the first time and now like it so much that I order it for breakfast. We were in Bedok Jetty for fishing and met heavy rain in the afternoon. Although it rain heavily, but we still carry on and never give up hope for 1 big fish. Of course, we did also caught many small ikan. Most of all we enjoyed very much and end up with our favorite Alio e Oilo with Seafood pasta for dinner(This is a basic, homey Italian pasta dish from Rome that keeps in mind the basic flavors of the pasta, oil and garlic).at Old airport road food center. That was a reward for our1 day hardwork. Hahah!!

Ingredients for making 38 pieces of Liquid Chlorophyll Mooncakes:

224g of Gao Fen (cooked glutinous rice flour/snow skin flour)

280g of Icing sugar7 oz of water3 oz of liquid chlorophyll

102g of Crisco (Vegetable shortening)Mix together to form a dough.

The Marlin from Pulau Tioman

"The first thing we did when we arrived at Tioman was to stock up on live bait-fish in our 20gal bait-well. It took just an hour to catch about 100 baits, mostly kembong & selar, whilst anchored 30 meters upstream of the unjangs. Thereafter we concentrated on bottom fishing & live-baiting downstream. Bonitos were in season and we found it was easier to catch them on the same jigs than using spinners. The best jigs were the Sabiki no 12 hooks with white fish skin and green reflectors. For bottom fishing, we use self-tied apollo rigs with bonito sliced into "cubes" as bait. what a dish that I have discover, never see it before, I don't really know where it come from. But I know it is vietnamese crusine. Served like Salad style dressing with vegetables, fish source , peanuts,spring inon and bean sprouts. It is a white colour jelly like stuffs like Sotong but very chewy. Well, my partner brought me to one of the narrow lorong that lived with resident along to eat the home cook porridge ( Chao). I would say similar to cantonese style cooking. It is a common daily meal for most of the people. ComTam means broken rice. Cheaper type of rice. Getting famous in recent years. Vietnamese eat simple for their daily meals, commonly seen with rice and 1 main dish and cost around 10-15,000 Dong. The barbecue pork is common dish in Vietnam, most of com tam stalls serve it well. They barbecue it outside the shop and serve hot. Other choosen main dish to go with com tam will be Tom ( prawn ), Ga ( Barbe Chicken ), Ca (fish) and the serving also comes with Slices tomato and cucumber( standard every where ).

What i usually order is Thit Heo( barbecue pork) with green fried vegetables plus soup of the day(see picture). It cost me only 19,000 Dong (sin$1.90) for a meal. Guaranteed a delicious meal to have.

Ok guys!, the steamboat mutton in Vietnam is one of the famous dish. Vietnamese eats babecue mutton, - young goat. Quite unique for me. But the set up with charcoal is fun and D.I.Y . Hey, I have visited Q3 with customers to enjoy this so call vietnamese dish. A kind of slim fish from the river will prepare with either steamboat or barbecue. I have both of course. As usual, the steamboat will serve with varieties of vegetables. And the barbecue fishes were so crispy that we swallowed the bones as well. Ai yo!, another cafe located at 45, Bui vien St -Bobby Brewers cafe comes with mini theater. I think is the first one in HCMC. hahaha! what a night with my partner sitting at the road side eating DOG meat steamboat. Felt strange and funny, just that unexplainable feeling la!, bit of like..... after all, 1st time. Well, the meat tasted like mutton a bit and pork a bit.. not very sure but acceptable. But somehow I feel a bit of DOG smell. Is it Psycologiacally disturb because of dog meat???. My partner told me the way they prepared and how they kill the dog. YaK!! so cruel.

You know?, in HCMC or whole Vietnam , seldom see stray dog. They catch stray dogs and sell it to shop owner for cooking. They either make it a steamboat or barbecue it. The street that we visited are more than 10 shops in a row to sell dog meat. Very competitive , they stop your bike to force you visit their shop. So scary to foreigners, but vietnamese loves it, and they eat dog meat with rice wine. The steamboat cost 72000 Dong (Sin$7) for 2 pax with 2 bottles of Saigon Beer.生平第一次吃狗肉！哎哟，还真不敢相信呐！！吃起来感觉怪怪的！不是很好吃，只是好奇心作怪，听太多，也看太多，所以不管三七二十一。。。。。越南人的口味也够异样啦！不怎么样的味觉也可算是好吃。这也难说，吃本来就看各人的口味。难评论啦！

This is my 3rd visits to this wonderful shop that only sell 1 type of desert- i call it "ice durian desert" - uniquely done with agar agar and coconut milk serve in the tall glass. I am impress with the shop because it only serve 1 typr of desert. And you can find mnore than 3 shops that sold this desert along the street. It is crowded with people. It only costs 8000 Dong (Sin$0.80) per glass.

A very interesting place to eat steamboat, small plastic table and chair by the road side.

Very tatsy and well cook soup accompany with varieties of ingredients like , live prawns, pig liver, sotong, pork, beef, chicken liver and slices of fish meats with lots of green vegetables.

The stuffs are surrounded by the side of the steamboat. Come with white noddle. It was indeed enjoyable and inexpensive meal with fresh ingredients and tasty soup. for 2 persons, we paid only 60,000 Dong ( Sin$ 6) for total bill. Some more came with 2 glasses of chinese tea.

I will definately bring my Singapore associates to enjoy this wonderful meal!

My son Chester contacted Dengue Fever on the 28 June. 6 days prior he has a bout of high fever which did not subside. Then came the rashes on his hands, feet and back. A visit to Mount Alvernia Hospital confirmed he had Dengue. The blood tests showed his Platelet count to be 113, normal is 150-400. If you have been to HCMC, you must try this dish , Pork slice into thin layer and eat it with variety of green vegetables, wrap it with cucumber , starfruits, noodle and dip it into mixed sauce and eat it like po piah. Very similar way of eating. D.I .Y method , quite fun to for group eating. I have also order barbecue fish to eat the same way. Conclusion, whole meal will eat lots of green vegetables, very healthy way of eating. not very expensive !, is about Vn130,000 2 person portion and that included 2 beers. I think there are many places in HCMC serve this dish. so you might know of some other place and please drop me mail of it.

I have found an unforgetble local chinese dish( or maybe is vietnamese origin) ?? , anyway, does not matter, the most important and concern is this delicious preparation. The Crispy deep fried duck with noodle soup. The duck skin is so crispy and the meat is so tender. Just can't resist it, feel like eating 2 serving but is really filling after a bowl of noodle with chye sim topping. You have to try this dish in HCM because it is a very tasty and inexpensive local hawker food. Cost VND27000 a bowl,(Sin$2.60) It is indeed an unique combination.

I was fortunate to explore this city because of the new business development. Ho chi Minh City is indeed another busy city that I have come across in south east asia. I started my market researched since March and discovered many wonderful happening in this busy city. The nation are warm and friendly. I have experienced the most kiosk traffic condition ever in my life with lots of motorbikes on the road. There are less cars and the roads are narrow and not organize. But I admired the motorist with their riding skill. I was amazed and wonder how the people cross the road. There are about 500,000 motor bike in HCMC. Almost everyone live there will own a bike. The foods are wonderful and delicious. There are many inexpensive serving with great taste local dishes around the street, which i never miss it. There was a popular market well known by every tourist call Ben Thanh Market. It has got more than 300 stalls in it. Selling almost everythings that we want to buy. It is a bargain area for tourist. "xin chao" is the way to say hello to every body in vietnam. The vietnamese address "Anh" to elder and "Em" to younger. The picture above show the busy street of Bu Vien @ Pham Ngu Lao. Very interesting place for bag packer. The street had many 2 star hotels and guest rooms for rent. The rate is good and the place is safe. The street also have many resturants that served western crusin with very resonable price too. There are many open tour agencies that cater daily local tour in vietnam provinces and places of interests like, Mekong Delta, Pham Thiet and Munie beaches, Nah Trang beaches and further north to Ha long bay and Hanoi. It is a city that reflect the early 60' of Singapore. Plenty of business opportunities .

As I was self employed since 1995, I begin to realize i have to be self discipline and be organize with my hours to make it fruitful. Unfortunately, My retail buisness was not performing well in the year of 1998 and I decided to close it due to my accumulated debts. I left my 9 years retail biz with heavy debts . I joined my friend newly open used car center to be his sales man and also involved myself as Insurance agent. Those days were quite tough for me because i was inexperience to the trade. I was not doing well to pay off my debts.
In 2001, I met up with my primary school mate and he recommended something eye opening called MLM. I was confused when he told me about it and i was puzzled with it till i found out more from the company and management. It was indeed a business opportunity and i set foot on it till now. In networking inustry, it has unlimited challenges in everything we plan and accomplished. For my first 2 years, my result was bad. I was not earning enough to pay my debts. It was so dicouraging and i felt so down with my performance.
My acceptable result came later when I perservered with my vision and direction. I begin to see the different in myself and my surrounding. Networking is about relationship. It is about creating communication and developing relationship, it is not just about money and business. That is cool!!!
